We connect local folks who need a bike with those who have an extra bike to give away.

Whether you have a bike or need a bike, we are here to help facilitate a handoff.

How Bike Match works

If you have a bike or need a bike, fill out the “I Have a Bike” form or fill out the “I need a Bike” form to request a bike.

1. If you match with someone nearby, we’ll send you an email with information about how to make the handoff.
2. Determine a time to meet.
3. Exchange the bicycle
4. Take a picture and send it to hello@bikescape.org and post it online with the #BikeMatch hashtag
5. Happy (and safe) riding!

Bike Match FAQ

Can I just donate a bike? Unfortunately, we have very limited storage space for bike donations, so right now we are focused on facilitating the handoff of a working bike.

What if the bike needs minor repairs? Please repair the bike before the handoff. You can bring it to one of our Bike Repair Popups and we can help evaluate what work the bike may need.

What kinds of bikes do you need? All kinds! We have adults, teens, and children who are looking for bikes.

Why is there a liability waiver? We require everyone who participates in this program to agree to our liability waiver. It makes it clear that bikes are provided in an as-is condition.

Our Bike Match program was inspired by the system set up in San Francisco by Stephen Braitsch and SamwiseSF during the pandemic to connect essential workers with bicycles. We’ve adapted their best practices for our local program.
